FILM: Juno (12a)
JUNO comes well reviewed and whimsical, a soft comedy of a well rounded pregnant teen waddling through her three trimesters. our eponymous heroine
¤ is it ever okay to use eponymous: very tired
¤ and like actress and authoress, heroine seems somehow just plain wrong
steers a steady course as well adjusted adolescent around the expectations and dramas of the grown-up world as her ‘mistake’ runs its conclusion. some lovely dialogue and lightly applied performances make for an altogether undemanding yet intelligent movie sound-tracked by lo-fi doodlings. not quite as great as the critics were promising i must turn as ever to the viewing circumstances: hot and packed flix with popcorn-girl on my right, narrating-to-boyfriend-girl on left and the screen about two meters to the fore.
i liked it plenty though i did end up thinking about how i was going to rearrange the wardrobe when i got in and how the boyfriend’s shirt would make a great site colour scheme: brown bg, h2 golden mustard affair and a touch of turquoise for links. how far have i wandered from the path???
those essential * * * * and though it really felt like only three i know which way the winds blowing.
